Testing Like a Champ

March 24, 2016

Hola chicas! Just a little update as to why I’ve been M.I.A these past three weeks… MIDTERMS. That’s right, it’s that time of the year where all college students are having mini-melt downs, and 2007 Britney doesn’t seem so crazy after all.
I know students across the nation and worldwide have different testing days, it just happens to be that mine are this week so I’ve compiled a list of how I like to study and de-stress.

First and foremost, as the queen bee of leaving things for last minute – don’t. Give yourself enough time to study and understand the material you need. I gave myself 2 weeks.

For science classes, flash cards are your best friends. Though it takes time and energy to create, this is my preferred method for memorizing those tedious definitions.

Read out loud, I’m sure there is a scientific explanation as to why this works but for me hearing it helps me remember information later on.

Put all your technology away! You can survive an hour or two without your gadgets, though our brains have incredible capabilities multitasking isn’t really one of them. If you really want to do well on something, put your whole mind to it. No distractions.

Take a little break. Taking breaks while studying is actually really good for you, it gives you brain a little break to play catch up and all the new information it just received settles in.

Munch on healthy snacks and drink some water – this is just healthy for you!

Try some yoga to destress. You don’t have to go to some fancy pants yoga studio, fire up the Youtube machine and look up yoga classes and you’ll find a world of yoga you had no idea existed.

Exercise. Burn off the stress and get those endorphin's (your body’s happy drug) run wild!

Get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation isn’t anything new in college – heck in adulthood, but you have no idea how great your brain functions with a solid 8 hours of sleep so get a good nights rest the night before the test!

I hope this list helps and may the curve be ever in your favor! Good luck on all your tests chicas :)
